Our Story

In the late 80s I was slinging espresso at Arabica on Coventry in Cleveland. That place and that time was kind of like no other… IYKYK. Fast-forward to the summer of 2024 when I reconnected with an old friend from those days. He said “For you, it’s always been about coffee.” And something clicked. I bought a coffee roaster and cleaned out my garage so I could start roasting. I’ve moved out of that garage and into a commercial roaster in Chicago and launched Of Coarse to bring you seriously good coffee

Extraordinarily Good. Unapologetically Approachable.

Seriously? Yeah. We obsess over finding great beans, nailing the roast, and creating a cup that makes you stop mid-sip and say, “Damn, that’s good.” We take coffee seriously, just not ourselves.

Good? Actually we think it’s great but “seriously great coffee” didn’t sound as good. We wanted to bring you specialty coffee that is easy to enjoy without overthinking it. No gatekeeping, no pressure, no lectures on brew ratios (unless you really want them). We’re just here for people who love a great cup.

FAQ

  • Where do you roast?
We're roasting at Tailwind Roasting, and awesome co-roaster in Chicago.
  • How often will you be roasting?
Probably every week. If we sell out look for new drops. And subscribe to our newsletter to learn about new drops and new products.
  • How long will your coffee last?
Coffee you buy in a retail store will have a best buy date for a year or more. Technically coffee is super stable and can last that long, but we find the sweet spot is 7-21 days after it's roasted.
  • How should I store my coffee?
In the bag it comes in. Coffee and oxygen are not fans, it leads to flavor loss. So keeping it in that bag and sealed is best. When you move it to a container you're introducing more oxygen so it's not great. If you're a put your coffee in the freezer kind of person you can do that. There's debate whether it's good or bad... but tbh we hope you drink it quick so you don't need to store it there.
  • When can I expect my coffee?
We'll ship out a couple days after roasting. And depending where you are it could take a couple days or a week. Don't worry, it will be plenty good when you get it BUT if you get it super quickly it's best to let it rest til it's seven days from roasting.
  • Will you have more FAQs later?
    yeah
